The TiVo died yesterday. And by "died" I mean the motherboard is frelled. The hard drive seems to be intact, which is good since we have 13 episodes of Doctor Who we need to dump to tape (and bad because we have no idea how we're going to do it -- any ideas, Wayne?)
So, time to spend money we don't have on replacing an electronic item that died way too damn early.
At least there's a $150 rebate on them right now.

Everybody tells me how great Tivos are. And everybody I know who has one has had trouble with it. I wish you guys would decide which story you're gonna go with.

If you can get another TiVo that is the same model - perhaps one on eBay with a bad drive - you could put your drive in it. Kind of a brain transplant.
Alternatively, if you know someone with the same model, you could temporarily drop your drive into it, dump the shows, then put their drive back in.
